The canals in Bruges are so beautiful. I once had a coffee there and it was so serene. Lovely pictures!

Thank you! Oh yes, I think that sitting outside with a coffee and a piece of cake is the best thing to do in summer in Bruges.

This looks beautiful-- have always wanted to visit. At least in the photos, I agree it seems a little like Amsterdam, without the marauding English club kids, kebab stands and "coffee" shops. I'll take it.

Thank you!! Many Belgians told me that I should have visited Ghent instead of Bruges because it is more beautiful, next time!

I have to go! It looks like a cuter, less populated city than Amsterdam. Thanks for sharing.

I agree, Bruges is beautiful and deserves a proper stop to explore. I visited there in June last year as a cruise stop. 6 hours wandering through history is no where near enough time. I loved hearing about the beer pipeline under the city and enjoying fresh Belgian waffles.

I will definitely plan for a return visit.

It is not a big city, but it deserve some days to enjoy it properly. I don’t know about the pipeline, but also Belgian fries are amazing!

There is an underground pipeline from the brewery to the bottling plant. It passes through some of the historic area. There is a "port hole" where you can see it under the street.

I also visited Bruges on a shore excursion from a cruise. They make the tour buses park at the edge of town and then the guides shepherd everyone on the excursion through some of the major sites and then turn you loose for about 90 minutes to shop, eat, drink, etc. with a mandatory “back on the bus or you’ll be left behind” admonition. Pretty little town, but very limited time there.
