I always love your photos Flavio. I visited Italy (Rome) for the first time 2 months ago and I can’t wait to see more of it. Venice is high on my list.

Also I agree with you on how different it is to see ‘home’ from an outsider’s perspective. You appreciate it so much more!!

Thank you Flavio, returning to Burano and Morano with your post was a delight. Burano being the prettiest place and you are right about the lace making, there are so many shops selling lace, a bit like Brussels, and of course Morano with their amazing glass, we saw a magnificent and huge black chandelier in one of the shops, you would definitely need a huge foyer or living room to put it in, my only purchase was a Christmas decoration which adorns our tree each year. Watching the glassmakers was a treat also. It sounds like you missed out on that, such a pity. At the time we were staying in Venice so had the time to travel over in the morning and spend the day exploring both islands. Although we were “the tourists” it wasn’t so crowded. I understand nowadays it is getting so crowded, it is not enjoyable at all. There was also talk about them stopping the cruise ships from coming in, why they let them do that in the first place heaven knows.

Thank you for reading, the cruise ships are not entering in the lagoon anymore, they let them entering because they thought it was a huge business for the city, but on a long term it wasn't.

Lovely images, and a nice reminder of my only visit to Venice more than 20 years ago. We also visited Burano and came away from one of the glass makers with a beautiful little bowl.

I'm going to Vicenza for a week in May, my first time anywhere in the Veneto. Since I intend to take at least one day-trip to Venice, I'll check out Gillian Knows Best as per your recommendation. Thanks!

To celebrate a friend's birthday. He has rented an apartment in the Forestiera of the Villa Valmarana Ai Nani and invited 5 of us to come and stay with him. I couldn't say no to an invitation like that!

I love that going there with your tourist friends and gf reawakened Venice for you! I had a similar experience when my friend from Poland visited CO and was mesmerized by the dry Rocky Mountain landscapes—it made me appreciate their beauty in a whole new way!

Although I have not been to any of these places, Burano looks the most interesting.

Your photos make it seem so colourful and inviting.

It looks like February had a great temperature and few people to make a perfect visit.

Yes in those days it was almost spring, but the week after winter came back. It was the day after the end of the carnival, that's why Venice was not that crowded. If you plan to go to Venice, consider to visit Burano and avoid the carnival.
