After saying goodbye to Tami, in autumn 2019, I took a bus from Fukuoka that took me to Hiroshima in four hours. In the early afternoon, I arrived at the hostel, I booked a traditional room with a tatami instead of a “normal” bed, I would have spent there only one night, and it was a mistake: Hiroshima is beautiful with a lot of to offer; now I think that I should have rescheduled my plans and given more time to this city, anyway I was able to see the most important things.
An excellent read! I loved learning about Japan through this post. When I visited Hiroshima (also in 2019), I was amazed by its beauty and how it's now a flourishing part of the country.
Thoroughly enjoyed your expose on Hiroshima. I don’t think there would be anyone who wasn’t affected emotionally after visiting and seeing the pictorial memories of what happened when the atomic bombs were dropped. Aren’t the costumes delightful and the pagodas and temples very ornate.
I would like to visit Hiroshima after reading this. The night market and oyster dishes sound awesome. I hope we can learn from places like the Peace Memorial Museum and the Genbaku Dome.
Spectacular photos and a wonderful narrative, Flavio. Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Hiroshima. It is remarkable how resilient the city is, given the devastation inflicted upon it during WWII. Your travels are fascinating.
A beautiful report. So well done! How difficult would it be to visit Hiroshima without a guide or knowledge of Japanese? I want to visit after reading your post!

Thank you!! Yes I had the same feeling, it should be more considered.

Thank you for all the detail.
Lovely photos and interesting read, a city I really knew nothing about but would definitely be interested in adding to our travel plans!
Thank you!!

Thank you!! It is not difficult, it is anyway a big city with tourism, and with a local sim you can use google maps and a translator.
